Re-opened branches will also enable Bank to support businesses as they gradually resume operations
United Overseas Bank (UOB) is taking a careful and gradual approach to re-opening its branches as it supports Singapore’s Safe Re-Opening phase. From Monday, the Bank will re-open nine branches across the island (see Appendix for details).
The branches have been selected based on their proximity to areas with a higher concentration of businesses and to existing branches that experienced high customer footfall during the circuit breaker period. By opening more branches in these locations, the Bank will be able to balance safe distancing requirements while supporting businesses as they too gradually resume operations.
Mr Benny Chan, Head of Channels, Group Channels and Digitalisation, UOB, said, “While we are no longer in the Circuit Breaker period, there remains a need for all of us to leave home only for essential needs to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We encourage our customers to continue using our digital services and solutions, including UOB Mighty and UOB Business Internet Banking Plus, for their personal banking and business needs. We also ask that customers visit our branches only for essential banking services that cannot be conducted through our digital solutions.”
All re-opened branches will continue to prioritise service for elderly and vulnerable customers during the first hour of banking operations.
For the health and safety of UOB colleagues and customers, the Bank’s enhanced precautionary measures remain in place for all branches. Visitors will be required to wear a mask, complete the SafeEntry check-in and check-out procedures, undergo temperature screening and make health and travel declarations prior to entering a UOB branch. Once inside, the Bank’s Safe Distancing Ambassadors will guide branch visitors to ensure a one-metre distance is observed.
In addition to increasing the frequency of cleaning at all branches, automated teller machines (ATMs) and auto lobbies, the Bank has also applied a commercial grade self-disinfecting coating at high-touch areas including branch counters and meeting areas within its branches and at its ATMs.
The Bank will continue to monitor customer traffic at its branches and take into account government guidelines before determining when to re-open its remaining branches.
