The UOB Code of Conduct lays down the principles of personal and professional behaviour, including respect of human rights, expected of all UOB employees.
The UOB Code of Conduct entails expectations for responsible business conduct, which includes business ethics, regulatory compliance, respecting internationally-recognised human rights, and protecting the well-being of our employees, customers and the wider community. We take guidance from internationally-accepted human rights principles and standards, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and International Labour Organization Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
Areas covered include:
All employees receive training relating to the Code, which embodies UOB’s values of Honour, Enterprise, Commitment and Unity. New employees are introduced to the Code as part of their induction while existing employees refresh their knowledge annually as part of the Bank’s self-learning programme. In the performance appraisal system, employees are assessed based on whether their behaviour is aligned to the corporate values. Any employee who does not comply with the Code may be subject to disciplinary action. The Code is reviewed periodically for continued relevance and approved by the UOB Human Resources Committee.
We are politically neutral and have a longstanding policy of not making contributions to political parties or campaigns in any country in which we operate. In 2023, we did not make any contributions to or spending for political campaigns, political organisations, lobbyists or lobbying organisations.
