Between the long board dancing babes in South Korea and the ever-growing fanbase of iconic skate brand Supreme, skateboard culture is so hot right now that we wouldn’t be surprised if Netflix was planning a Tony Hawk biopic.
Freedom, creativity, and self-expression — fashion and skateboarding have a lot more in common than it seems. And of course, you wouldn’t skateboard in a gown and stilettos (unless you’re up for a real challenge) but there’s no denying that style is a big part of skateboarding, just like skateboarding is a bit part of fashion, music and pop culture in general.
Sure, real-world skater girls may not show up to the skatepark wearing a fitted vinyl trench coat. But this video is not about kick flips and ollies — we’re not after tricks here, we’re chasing the carefree, cruising attitude.
For this project, we asked Instagram-darling Nellie Lim to ride a long board around Singapore with her friend Jack. From rocking statement bell sleeves with grey stone-washed mom jeans to timeless stripes or a flowy dress, you’ll see that everything looks good with the right pair of cool kicks and some wind in your hair.
Watch the video to get inspired, with or without a board.
