With the increasing number of COVID-19 clusters in the rural areas of Yangon City, even general hospitals located at Insein and North Okkalapa are facing shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE).
To do our part for the community, UOB Yangon raised Myanmar Kyat 3,060,000 (S$3,122.45) from colleagues and the Bank also topped up an additional Myanmar Kyat 5,000,000 (S$5,102.03) to the donation pool which brought the total amount to Myanmar Kyat 8,050,000 (S$8,224.48). The fund was used to purchase 248 sets of PPE which included N95 masks, goggles, rubber gloves, caps, gowns and rubber boots for the frontline healthcare workers in North Okkalapa General Hospital and Insein General Hospital.
This is the Bank’s way of showing gratitude towards all doctors, nurses and frontline medical workers who are bravely leading the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
These donations are part of UOB's global #UnitedForYou Relief Programme which brings together the strengths of the UOB network and like-minded partners to help customers, colleagues and communities through to better times.
Ms Nang Saw Myat Lynn Phwe (Aster), Manager, Credit Admin, UOB Yangon, presented 248 sets of PPE to Insein and North Okkalapa Generals Hospitals on 8 May 2020. Both hospitals had awarded a certificate of appreciation to thank UOB Yangon for the donation.
